Could Social Media Join SMS in the World of Patient-Doctor Communication?

In 1996, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was enacted by Congress and signed into law by President Clinton. This legislation was designed to improve the continuity of information across the medical industry including insurance coverage for groups and individuals, as well as to fight against fraud and bureaucratic waste.

HIPAA, however, was written before the full breadth of the Internet had been realized and was well before the mass digitalization of personal records.

Philanthro Connect 2011: Connecting Tech and Non-Profits

Last Friday, CallFire helped sponsor Philanthro Connect 2011-- a great invitation-only event put on by Philanthro Productions in order to connect emerging technology companies with the non-profit community. Since we work with hundreds of non-profits, we were interested in the idea as soon as we heard about, and we're glad we had the chance to make the event possible (as well as attend it). We even roped our CEO, Dinesh Ravishanker, into booth duty.

Why Supporting a Good Cause Will Benefit Your Business

In one of my recent posts, I briefly mentioned "Generation G" -- a growing contingent of Americans described by trendwatching.com, where the G stands for Generosity. These Americans are increasingly "disgusted with greed" and its effects on society and the economy; they long for more generosity, for "institutions that care," and for for people who "share, give, engage, create and collaborate."
